Christmas with Santa

I love a good Christmas card, and like the Easter card I made, I wanted to make it special, but also using apertures.

This one was simple. on the outside Santa is on his sleigh heading towards a forest with the moon behind.

One the inside, a tiny village is shown to be his destination.

This was made up of several layers. The front was a simple aperture with trees cut out of a circle. The next layer had Santa and the sleigh, with the house windows cut out.

Under that was a transparency with a photo of the moon printed onto it. The windows of the houses were filled with coloured transparencies so they glowed.

Finally was a layer of plain card to seal in the transparencies.

It's a simple card, but I think it works really well. The majority of the issues I had was in using too thick a cardstock-- it was watercolour paper that works really well as snow, but was too thick to get a clean cut. But if you look at the final image, you can see how the layers of white card give depth to the snow.
